Firebrand UK Training Centre to Reopen

UK Training Centre Allowed to Reopen

UPDATE: 26 MAY. Read on for the most up-to-date information on the opening of Firebrand’s training centre, how this will affect you and the relevant terms and conditions.

Firebrand Training is working towards opening its UK training centre in June. Our Wyboston Lakes facilities have received approval for reopening, meaning training can now be delivered on-premises. This is in addition to other updates and actions we're undertaking around the COVID-19 pandemic.

We're doing our very best to offer our learners the broadest possible choice when it comes to learning experiences, and that includes on-premise classes as well as online instructor-led.

Everyone is eager to go back to "normal", but it's paramount that it happens safely, respecting the official regulations and addressing our learners' concerns. We'd like to reassure you that we're taking every possible step to ensure that the reopening process is as safe as possible.

We try to address the most pressing questions below, but should you have any other doubts, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Does this mean I have to attend in-person?

There's no pressure at all for you to attend your course in-person - courses will continue to run online as well as in the classroom in a hybrid fashion.

How safe is the Wyboston Lakes centre?

Wyboston Lakes has hosted training and overnight guests throughout the lockdown, as it's been a base for key workers to attend their own training.

There are already strong social distancing and hygiene practices in place onsite.

Firebrand’s approach aligns to government advice on safe work places. We will continue to monitor government advice - which may become more or less restrictive - and react accordingly.

What measures is Firebrand taking to safeguard my health during the stay?

The following measures will have been completed before the training centre reopens.

Before any training takes place, an independent risk assessment will have been completed and all onsite staff will have been trained.

Social distancing

All staff and students must always practice social distancing, by standing at least two meters away from other people. Signage and floor stickers will be used to ensure social distancing is maintained.

Other measures include:
  • Screen guards at all reception areas
  • A one-way system will be in place across the site
  • Student entry, exit and break times will be staggered
  • Bedroom check-in and check-out will be contact-free

Hand sanitiser will be placed at all staff and student entrances, and in all classrooms. Contact points will be removed wherever possible and equipment won’t be shared.

There will be a deep-clean before each course starts, and frequent cleaning will happen throughout the course.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

PPE is not currently mandatory in the training centre. Wearing a face mask or covering is optional, and not required by law.

If you choose to wear a face-covering, it’s your responsibility to ensure they’re worn correctly.

Aircon systems will be set to max airflow. Doors will be opened when and where appropriate/possible to promote further fresh air.

There will be regular breaks, where you'll be able to go outside where possible.

Food and drink

Fruit and snacks will be removed from the reception area of the training centre.

Depending on the number of students attending, food will either be delivered to you or social distancing will be actioned in the dining room where there will be a buffet service.
